Women Or Men Infertility Causes and Treatment

You will be acknowledged by Women Or Men Infertility Causes and Treatment, but before studying you should know what is ‘Infertility’. Infertility means not being able to become pregnant after a year of trying. If a woman keeps having miscarriages, it is also called infertility.

Primary Infertility, This type of couple has never had a child. Secondary Infertility, This infertility refers to couples who have been pregnant at least once, but never again.

Every 28 days of menstrual cycle, one mature egg is released from the ovary. This is called ovulation. After the egg is released, it moves into the fallopian tube where it stays for about 24 hours, the mature egg is fertilized when it is joined with a sperm cell. Sperm is contained in the semen which travels up the vagina, through the cervix and uterus and into the fallopian tubes. The fertilized egg then travels down the fallopian tube into the uterus. This can take 1 – 2 days. When the egg reaches the uterus, it may attach itself to the uterine lining and pregnancy will begin. And if there is some problem in this then infertility occurs, sometimes its because of women sometimes by men and sometimes by unknown factors.

A study by international researchers published in this week’s PLOS Medicine finds infertility rates have hardly changed over the past 20 years and in 2010, almost 50 million couples worldwide were unable to have a child after five years of trying.

Un-Explained Infertility

Means that either nothing really is wrong with you or your partner – or that the current available tests are not good enough to pinpoint the problem that is preventing you from falling pregnant. According to the report from Queens University Belfast, around 50,000 couples in the UK, and 1 million couples worldwide, undergo fertility treatments every year. Upwards of one third of them are told that they have unexplained or idiopathic infertility and this is because of high sperm DNA damage.

Treatment

Treatment depends on the cause of infertility. It may involve:

Education and counseling Fertility treatments such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Medicines that help the woman grow and release eggs from the ovaries Surgery
Intrauterine insemination/artificial insemination.

IVF Treatment

IVF may be an option if you or your partner have been diagnosed with, Endometriosis, Low sperm counts, Problems with the uterus or fallopian tubes, Problems with ovulation, Antibody problems that harm sperm or eggs, The inability of sperm to penetrate or survive in the cervical mucus, An unexplained fertility problem.

The first step in IVF involves injecting hormones so you produce multiple eggs each month, prior to the retrieval procedure, you will be given injections of a medication that ripens the developing eggs, 34–38 hours before your eggs are due to be collected you have a hormone injection to help your eggs mature, eggs are usually collected by ultrasound guidance under sedation. This involves a needle being inserted into the scanning probe and into each ovary. Cramping and a small amount of vaginal bleeding can occur after the procedure then eggs are mixed with your partner’s or the donor’s sperm and cultured in the laboratory for 16–20 hours. They are then checked and best one or two embryos will then be chosen for transfer, for women under the age of 40, one or two embryos can be transferred. If you are 40, or over, a maximum of three can be used

IUI Treatment

The IUI procedure can be an effective treatment for some causes of infertility in women under age 41. It is not effective for couples with Tubal blockage or severe tubal damage, Ovarian failure (menopause), severe male factor infertility, severe endometriosis.

In this process woman usually is given medications to stimulate development of multiple eggs and insemination is timed to coincide with ovulation – release of the eggs. A semen specimen is either produced at home or in the office by masturbation after 2-5 days of abstinence from ejaculation, the semen is “washed” in the laboratory (called sperm processing or sperm washing). The sperm is separated from the other components of the semen and concentrated in a small volume, a speculum is placed in the vagina and the cervical area is gently cleaned. The washed specimen of highly motile sperm is placed either in the cervix (Intra Cervical Insemination, ICI) or higher in the uterine cavity (intrauterine insemination, IUI) using a sterile, flexible catheter. Most women consider IUI to be fairly painless. There can be some cramping afterward, but what is felt is ovulation-related rather than from the IUI. The catheter often isn’t felt because the cervix is already slightly open for ovulation.

Fertility Chances

Review led by Tarek El-Toukhy from London’s Guys and St, Thomas NHS foundation Trust supports that Antioxidants supplements like vitamin A and E benefits the infertile men and improves the quality of sperm. According to another research led by the group of scientists at University of Rome that intake of dietary supplement named L- Carnitine with combination of L-Acetyl-Carnitine improves motility of sperms, also another research says that the extracts of green tea may boost the quality of men sperm and the 3 months intake of coenzyme Q1o supplement improve the antioxidant enzymes activity.[signoff]
